Tel Aviv University is the largest university in Israel and most comprehensive institution of higher learning. With over 30,000 students studying in nine faculties and over 125 schools and departments across the spectrum of sciences, humanities and the arts, it is a major centre for teaching and research. TAU is ranked 14th in the world in terms of scientific citations, and among the top 100 universities internationally. Tel Aviv University has excellent Materials (WAMRC) and a Nanotechnology Centres. All equipment is available for the HELIS project.

The Electrochemistry Group is led by Prof. Peled and Prof. Golodnitsky; the group is engaged in fundamental and applied research in the field of electrochemical energy storage and production, including lithium-ion batteries, lithium- and sodium-air batteries, direct-methanol and hydrogen-tribromide fuel cells. The group involves the full-time activities of 15 researchers, of whom 4 have PhDs.
